Carlos M. Jarque visits Las Dehesas organic-waste biomethane plant (Madrid)
On 16 June Carlos M. Jarque, CEO of FCC Group, visited the Las Dehesas organic-waste biomethane plant at Valdemingómez Technology Park (Madrid), which is managed by the Madrid Office of FCC Medio Ambiente. During the visit, the CEO was accompanied by Agustín García Gila, the chairman of FCC Medio Ambiente, Jordi Payet, the managing director of FCC Medio Ambiente; Sylvain Cortes, the waste-treatment director, and by the managers of the facility, Aránzazu Alonso Guerra, the plant director, and Gabriel Morales Barreras, the technical director.
The visit enabled the CEO to see first-hand hand how the facility operates, including the waste management and treatment system implemented at the site and used in the valuation process.
Las Dehesas biomethane plant has been operational since 2008. It treats more than 173,000 tonnes of waste every year, producing more than 16.9 million Nm3 of biogas — a production rate that makes it the largest biomethane plant in Europe and the second largest in the world.
During his meeting with the plant’s managers, Jarque encouraged them to focus on a results-oriented approach, highlighting efficiency, technological innovation and productivity as the key objectives. The CEO also urged them to continue with the excellent work to date in this pioneering infrastructure project.
