Letter from José M. Martínez, FCC colleague: El sueño de Vicky, an association for research into child cancer

Hi,
My name is Vicky and I'm five years old, but for a while now I haven't been like the other kids, now I'm the brightest star in the night sky.

Letter from José M. Martínez, FCC colleague: El sueño de Vicky, an association for research into child cancer

When I was two, a little lump appeared inside my head and although the doctors and my mummy and daddy did everything  they could to make me better, it was too much for my little body to cope with and so it stopped working. Now, like I said, I'm the brightest star in sky.

I am writing to you because in this house, the company my daddy works for, lots of you have come to see how he is doing and really helped him to keep fighting for me to get the best possible care in the whole wide world, and I want to thank you all for being there for him.

My mummy and daddy have made a club with their friends, I think they call it an association, which is called: "El sueño de Vicky". They want to stop what happened to me from happening to other kids and to teach other people about this illness. And if someone is unlucky enough to get sick, which can happen to anyone, they can help them to fight and hopefully to get better. This is my dream, "El sueño de Vicky", to beat and research child cancer.

My daddy says how can a little girl as young as me have taught us so much? I don't really know why, but he says that thanks to my smile and the care and love they gave me when I was poorly, they can look to the future in peace, with pain in their hearts but also with lots of hope, knowing that they will never forget me and that I'm still part of the family.
