Leading traumatologist Pedro Guillén lectures at Nuestra Casa retirement home

The Friday lecture series, organised by FCC's volunteer programme in conjunction with the Esther Koplowitz Foundation, welcomed leading Spanish traumatologist Pedro Guillén on 30 April. Dr Guillén, who is specialised in sports medicine, is Chairman of the Board of Directors and Medical Director of Madrid's Cemtro Clinic and Professor at the Catholic University of Murcia. Dr Guillén holds honorary degrees from various Spanish and foreign universities and is a regular candidate for the Prince of Asturias Award.

His presentation, which included two videos, was entitled "Recent advances in traumatology", and highlighted the medical milestones achieved in the speciality since the 14th century. His lecture covered topics such as X-rays, plaster, arthroscopy and tissue engineering, which he explained with both proficiency and clarity, evidencing his extensive professional and academic experience.
