During the ceremony Camps underlined the fact that the new sports centre would improve quality of life in Denia as well as create new jobs. He also tried out the exercise machines and the new paddle tennis court. Mayoress Ana Kringe emphasized the centre's modernity and sustainability and the fact that it incorporates energy saving measures.

The centre was built by an FCC-Aqualia joint venture, which will also manage the centre for the next twenty years. The centre includes 2 heated swimming pools, a fitness room, four rooms for classes, a spinning room with more than 26 bicycles (over 60 m2), locker rooms, showers and a first aid station. Outdoor facilities include two paddle tennis courts and a spa.

This is one of the twenty-four sports centres in Spain under Aqualia management. This is a growing business area: the company also has contracts in Galicia, Asturias, Andalusia, Castilla-La Mancha, Catalonia, Murcia and the Canary Islands.
