FCC Construction to represent Spain in the European Construction Industry Federation
The General Assembly of the European Construction Industry Federation (FIEC) was held in Berlin, bringing together representatives from leading construction companies in Europe, including countries from the European Union and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), and Turkey
The General Assembly elected Johan Willemen as President, to succeed Thomas Schleicher as head of the federation for a two-year term, and the vice-presidents, who will represent member countries. Guillermo Aparicio, head of Institutional Relations at FCC Construction, will represent construction sector interests in FIEC.
The FIEC is a transnational association which aims to protect and promote the interests of the construction industry vis-à-vis public institutions and to participate actively in drafting policies and improvements that affect the sector as a whole.
The presence of FCC executives in this type of transnational association favours the company's interests abroad and enhances its influence on important issues, such as health and safety, contract law, etc.
Cristina García Herguedas, Head of Safety at FCC Construction, is a member of the FIEC Social Commission, with responsibility for promoting industry-wide improvements in health and safety; and Plácido Álvarez, Head of International Development, is a member of the Board of European International Contractors
