FCC Environment sets up the conservation and maintenance service for parks and gardens in Málaga
The new service has a staff of 126 workers and is equipped with new technologies that will improve the efficiency of daily tasks as well as inspection work.
FCC has deployed a large variety of vehicles and machinery for carrying out this service, notably electrical tricycles fully equipped with electric machinery for cleaning work, designed by the R&D section of the FCC Medio Ambiente Machinery Department and by the technical staff form the Malaga parks and gardens contract in the “La Pelusa” facilities.
The service also has a special lorry for plant treatment at heights. This is an innovative prototype that does not exist on the market and that has been developed by FCC in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Valencia, the Valencia Agricultural Research Institute and local companies. This equipment piece also has a telescopic hydraulic crane in four sections, a control box and a vision system, the main function of which is to monitor the application of the treatment from a distance and especially the control of plagues such as the ‘red palm-weevil’ (Rhynchophorus ferrugineus) pest in palm trees. Vehicles with electric and hybrid technologies with null or low CO2 and noise emissions have also been implemented together with electric tools for maintenance work, power saws, shredders and hedge cutters, among others.
