<br />Juan Béjar visits facilities managed by FCC's Environmental Services Department in Madrid
As part of his schedule of meetings with management teams in FCC's business areas, Juan Béjar, Vice-Chairman and CEO of FCC, visited the Resina waste collection centre and the Las Dehesas biomethanisation plant at Valdemingómez Technology Park (Madrid) on 11 July.
He was accompanied by Agustín García Gila, Chairman of FCC Services; Ana Villacañas Beades, General Manager of Organisation, Procurements, Human Resources and IT; Rafael Montes Sánchez, Director of FCC; Raúl Pérez Vega, Director of the Environmental Services Department in Madrid; and Alfonso García García, Director of Technical Services.
At the Resina centre, Raúl Pérez
and Alfonso García told Mr. Béjar about the contracts that are delivered from that centre, which, along with three other waste collection centres (Vallecas, Monteras and Aguacate) also managed by FCC, cover 100% of Madrid's waste collection services.
The current waste collection fleet in Madrid comprises 468 vehicles, of which 418 run on compressed natural gas, 34 on bioethanol and biodiesel, and 16 are hybrid electric, which notably reduces pollution and noise levels (15 hybrid back-loading waste compactor trucks with 6 m3 capacity and 1 hybrid 4-axle compactor with 27 m3 capacity).
Then Mr. Béjar visited the Las Dehesas biomethanisation plant, in Valdemingómez Technology Park, where he was brought up to speed about waste treatment and reuse at that facility.
The Las Dehesas plant, which has been operational since 2008 and is the largest of its kind in Europe, treats more than 173,000 tonnes of waste per year, producing 16.9 million Nm3 of biogas annually.
