New waste and recyclables transport contract for FCC Environment

FCC Environment, the UK leader in waste and resource management, has been awarded a five-year contract for the transport of residual waste and recyclables on behalf of Re3. The haulage will be performed using tractor units and 44-ton semi-trailers with walking floors.

New waste and recyclables transport contract for FCC Environment

Re3 is an association formed between FCC Environment and the Borough Councils of Bracknell Forest, Reading and Wokingham Borough. The aim of Re3 is to increase the amount of waste from the three towns that can be reused, recycled and converted into compost, in order to minimise the amount of waste dumped on landfills.

The councils and FCC Environment will work together to provide residents and local businesses with first-class facilities for recycling and managing waste up to the year 2031.

As part of the contract, recyclable materials are collected at the Re3 Longshot Lane facility and delivered for processing at the Smallmead Material Recovery Facility (MRF), also within Re3. Waste material is transported from Re3’s MRF, from the two transfer stations, and from HWRC facilities for further treatment at the Lakeside Energy from Waste (EfW) plant and at FCC Environment’s Sutton Courtenay Environmental Complex.
