Áridos de Melo and Repsol have presented a study on the “use of synthetic binders in landscape and singular works. Bike lanes Plaza España (Madrid)" within the National Pavement Symposium 2023.
Pigmentable synthetic binders are binders that make it possible to manufacture mixtures that find applications similar to traditional bituminous mixtures, enhancing their integration with the environment, both from the landscape, unique and environmental point of view. Therefore, they can be used in special areas, such as roads in parks and gardens, bike lanes, bus lanes, differential pavement elements, special areas for safety/warning purposes and other special places. Obtaining mixtures with adequate mechanical performance to fulfill their purpose depending on the type of application, selecting the appropriate synthetic binder.
The case presented in this study is a clear example of the use of pigmentable synthetic binders with a clear functionality, which seeks to blend in with the landscape environment, offering the functionality of use as a binder in a mixture focused on the use of bicycle and pedestrian lanes.
