The Construction area increases the gross operating result by 23.8% in the first half of 2019

 

  • The Construction Area of the FCC Group has increased the gross operating profit (EBITDA) by 23.8% compared to the same period of the previous year.
  • The revenues of the area increased 4.0% in the period to 769.6 million euros due to the contribution of new hires in Spain.

 

The Construction area increases the gross operating result by 23.8% in the first half of 2019

The Construction area of the FCC Group has increased by 23.8% the gross operating result (EBITDA) compared to the same period of the previous year, thus reaching 46.8 million euros. This area contributes 10.1% of the FCC Group EBITDA in the first half of 2019.

In turn, the net operating result stands at 35.1 million euros, which represents an increase of 4.8% compared to the previous year. The behavior of both magnitudes is explained by the good evolution of the various national and international projects in execution.

Following this tonic of growth, the revenues of the area increase 4.0% in the period to 769.6 million euros due to the contribution of new hires in Spain. At a national level, the turnover increases 5.6% to 294.2 million euros, both in the field of construction and civil works. In the international sphere, the behavior of European and United States projects stands out, whose turnover increases by 56.5% to 124.4 million euros, as a result of the greater activity in projects initiated in EU countries such as Haren complex in Belgium and especially of various railway lines in Romania.

The area's revenue portfolio grows 11.3% at the end of the first half of the year to reach 5,024.8 million euros, where Spain experiences a remarkable growth of 67.9% due to new hires such as the remodeling of the football stadium of Real Madrid or the construction project of the high-speed Mediterranean corridor Murcia - Almería. By type of activity the civil work in portfolio maintains its dominance, with 64% of the total, although the largest volume of contracting has occurred in the building activity due to the work of the Real Madrid stadium already mentioned above. The industrial activity also undergoes a notable improvement in the portfolio in the first half of the year, thanks to projects such as the development of a data center in Spain or extension of the scope of contracts in Saudi Arabia.
