The FAST Consortium finalizes the assembly work of the prefabricated structure depot Line 5 Metro of Riyadh (Saudi Arabia)

The FAST Consortium has completed during this week, the assembly work of the prefabricated structure of the depot of Line 5, of the Riyadh metro. The works started in July 2016 and since then 6,039 pieces have been placed, executed in Dammam and placed on site, covering an area of more than 78,000 m2.

FCC's construction team also participated in finding a viable design and in time to execute a predominantly prefabricated train depot, which would comply with the waterproofing requirements of a buried structure. Among the characteristics of this installation it is worth noting that it contains workshop buildings, maintenance, offices and train parking in a plant; and a plant with a height of 5 m. As for the facilities, one of the requirements of the project involves the complete air conditioning of a volume of about 800,000 m3, which will be executed by FCC EM.

The Depot works have involved more than twenty five FCC technicians along with other technicians of different nationalities. It is worth mentioning the participation of the Technical Services of FCC Construcción both in the design and in the support for the execution. After this execution, the entire building and the urbanization of the plot will be filled.

Package 3 of the Riyadh Metro (executed by the FAST Consortium, led by FCC) has 64 km of layout, 25 stations and two depots: one on the surface on Line 4 (yellow line) and another totally buried on the Line 5 (Green line, executed 100% by FCC teams).
