The Chilean Government increases the backlog of concessions by US$ 2 billion until 2018, with more roads included

The dual carriageway between Antofagasta and Iquique, the extension of Route 68 and a new connection by Olmué, as well as a bypass from Rancagua to the Ruta de de la Fruta, will all be put out to tender.

Three new road works, in the north and centre of the country, were announced yesterday by President Michelle Bachelet as the projects which will boost the backlog of concessions to be put out to tender until 2018, and which rose from US$ 10 billion to US$ 12 billion, road between the access to Iquique through Route 5 (near to the Humberstone Saltpeter Works) and Carmen Alto, where Route 25 is connected to Calama. Costing US$ 466 million, the section will be adapted to the current standards in other segments of the Pan-American Highway.
