The Government of Jersey approves the project for the new hospital in Jersey (United Kingdom)

The Government of Jersey has approved the project for the construction of the new hospital in Jersey, for an amount of 949 million euros.

In a report issued by an independent evaluator, it confirms the need for the construction of the hospital, as well as the constant positive aspects that its operation would have. Environment Minister John Young MP said: “The inspector's report is comprehensive and provides a clear recommendation. I am very grateful to the planning inspector for delivering a high quality report.”

The report adds that "the proposed construction proposal will offer a health campus of unquestionable quality, with contemporary buildings in an attractive landscape setting, which would allow patients, visitors and staff to enjoy a very high quality environment".

Following the decision, Senator Lyndon Farnham, as chair of the Our Hospital Political Oversight Group, said, "I appreciate the decision and would like to extend my thanks to everyone who has been involved in bringing the project successfully to this point.

"This decision now clears the way for the next phase of the project, which is to build the hospital and deliver it on time and on budget to be fully operational by December 2026."
