The FCC Group winner of the ONCE Social Group Solidarity Awards
The FCC Group has been the winner in the “Company” category of the ONCE Social Group Solidarity Awards. The ONCE Community of Madrid Social Group Solidarity Awards are the highest distinction that ONCE grants at the regional level, distinguishing those people, companies, NGOs, entities and organizations of the Public Administration and communication programs or works that have stood out for their solidarity work. coincident with the essential values of the Institutional Culture of the ONCE Social Group.
In the category of Institution, Organization, Entity, NGO, the Solidarios Award goes to the Legal Assistance Unit of the A LA PAR Foundation, for launching this specialized help service, aimed at avoiding possible abuses suffered by people with intellectual disabilities. . It is a project, created in 2010, that works in coordination with all legal and protection agents.
In the Program, article or communication project section, the award goes to madridiario.es, an online newspaper with a long history in the Community of Madrid, with a strong presence in political and social environments and inclusion of information from the ONCE Social Group with total normality and assiduity. It places social information at the same level as the rest of the news, also by the person most responsible for it, the Chronicler of the City of Madrid, Constantino Mediavilla, who includes social comments in all his media activity.
The Solidarity for the Physical Person is for Jesús Sanz Sebastián. With more than 14 years of experience working throughout the national scene, as director of CANDILEJA PRODUCCIONES, they have become professional in the creation of family shows, related to different educational concepts, developing quality stage projects in which the theater functions as a means of education and social transformation. Professional actors without and with disabilities (physical and intellectual) and actors with a risk profile for social exclusion participate in their productions to promote values such as inclusion, diversity and empathy.
In the Company category, the award goes to FCC, for promoting social projects, aimed at reducing aspects such as inequality, poverty or the risk of social exclusion. Through its different business lines, it carries out programs to promote social development, culture, sports and healthcare. FCC shows a clear commitment to the integration of people with disabilities in the workplace, as a key element for social integration and personal improvement. Collaborate with specialized organizations that advise on the management of recruitment and support for people with disabilities and/or at risk of social exclusion.
The Solidarios in the Public Administration Establishment category is for Madrid Destino. The Madrid City Council has an Accessible Tourism Plan. This plan, which is reviewed annually, includes the lines of action regarding tourism accessibility, such as the implementation of awareness-raising actions for the Madrid tourism sector; the development of accessibility in the capital's tourist information centers and points; as well as the implementation of new projects that aim to promote and consolidate Madrid as an accessible tourist destination, in collaboration with groups representing the sector.
Currently, FCC Construction is executing the new headquarters of the ONCE Group. The new headquarters will unify in one space the buildings dedicated to the management of most of the areas in which the ONCE Social Group operates. Specifically, the new space will house offices of the General Council of ONCE, the General Directorate and the ONCE Foundation, in addition to other areas and professionals from Ilunion, Inserta Empleo, the Servimedia news agency or the Tiflological Museum.
The project will be developed on the grounds of the old Antonio Vicente Mosquete school, where many generations of blind children were educated at the end of the last century.
The new facilities are located on a plot of land with an approximate area of 24,000 square meters between Paseo de la Habana, Comandante Franco, Platerías and Tahona streets.
As part of this project, protected elements will be respected and improved such as the historic Jardín Duque de Pastrana Palace (which dates back to 1848 and was declared a national Historical-Artistic Monument in 1979); a tower at the confluence of Commander Franco and Tahona streets; and an original enclosure with a masonry fence, which will have a specific restoration plan.
For its part, the structure of the current cultural center will be maintained, which will have space for an auditorium, museum and restaurant area. The complex will have buildings linked by walkways and separated by squares, green spaces and an underground car park with about 400 spaces.
