The President of Peru visits and supervises the Environmental Remediation work of the Expansion Project of the Jorge Chávez International Airport
The AMANCAE Consortium, led by FCC Construcción, has started the preparatory work for the construction of the New Jorge Chávez International Airport. These works will last approximately 12 months and their first stage will focus on the environmental remediation of the area where the expansion will take place. The entire project includes the construction of a second landing and take-off runway and a new terminal that will invest around US $ 1,500 million, benefiting more than 34 million passengers annually.
The President of the Republic, Martín Vizcarra, accompanied by the Minister of Transport and Communications, Edmer Trujillo, the Deputy Minister of Transport, Carlos Estremadoyro and the Manager of the Provincial Municipality of Callao, Yuri Vilela, inspected the start of the works Last Thursday, March 21. "This is a highly necessary project for the country, which requires the joint collaboration of many institutions, seeking the efficiency of all those involved in its execution. We all have to work together to have the second track within three years and the new terminal in four, "said the president. At another time, he stressed that, a few days after the first year of his term in office, a series of projects have been announced that guarantee that 2019 will continue on the path of Peru's economic growth.
The works included in the environmental remediation are fundamental to prepare the construction area, freeing the area of waste and polluting toxic material previously identified in the Environmental Impact Study. This ensures that the work is carried out with the highest technical and environmental standards.
Another of the important tasks that will be carried out during the preparatory work will be the installation of a permanent pumping and drainage system to solve the problems generated by the water outcrops. This action will keep the construction area without humidity and will also benefit the residents of the areas surrounding the airport, preventing their streets and homes from being affected by leaks.
Parallel to these activities will be made detailed technical analyzes of the soil such as topography, geotechnical and hydrogeology that will serve as a guide for the final designs of the construction of the New Jorge Chávez International Airport. During these works, it is also planned the realization of minor works such as the installation of a temporary camp, a perimeter fence, signage for evacuation routes, and the construction of a new access road for the work by Av. Gambetta.
All these works will be in charge of the Amancae consortium, selected by LAP to execute the works of the expansion project of the New Jorge Chávez.
