The president of Puertos del Estado has shown his support to Francisco Esteban Lefler as a candidate to preside over the World Association for Navigation Infrastructure (PIANC).

In the words of the president of Puertos del Estado, "it is always important that Spanish professionals hold positions of responsibility in global institutions and organizations" referring to the next position that Francisco Esteban will occupy.

During the meeting held they have been able to address the progress of some of the activities that ATPYC is preparing at this time, among which the VII National Congress to be held in 2020 in Cartagena, the day of Young Professionals scheduled for the autumn, which this year celebrates its XVI edition, or a day on environmental sustainability and port management planned during the month of October 2019 and will be organized jointly with the Port Authority of Huelva.

In the international arena, the ATPYC has one of its main objectives to represent Spain, holding the role of the Spanish National Section, within the World Association for Navigation Infrastructure (PIANC), an organization founded in 1885. During the meeting, They have also dealt with aspects related to the role of Spain in this organization, which will have as its most outstanding element the election of Francisco Esteban Lefler as President of PIANC during the Annual General Assembly 2019 to be held in Kobe on June 5, since it will fall for the first time in a Spanish representative.

This meeting reinforces the commitment of collaboration between both parties with the aim of establishing cooperation formulas for the development of activities and action programs in fields related to maritime and port technical and engineering that are of joint interest.

A long career in FCC Construcción

Francisco Esteban Lefler, is an engineer of roads, channels and ports by the Polytechnic University of Madrid and engineer of Construction and Electricity by the Polytechnic School of the Army. He has been with FCC Construcción since 1994, holding positions such as director of maritime works and civil works structures, director of Innovation and technology and currently technical director of the technical services of the construction area of the FCC Group.

Currently, he is the president of the Maritime Commission of PIANC (The World Association for Waterborne Transport Infrastructure), a position he has held since 2011, as well as president of the Technical Association of Ports and Coasts.
