The ‘0 ACCIDENTS’ project carries out its validation tests

The consortium of the ‘0 ACCIDENTS’ innovation project, led by FCC Construcción, has carried out the project validation tests at one of the company Becsa's worksites. This validation brought together the companies Becsa, FCC Construcción, Alisys, Signe, IDP, LIS Data, Fractalia and MPJAR. During the visit, the project partners had the opportunity to carry out validation tests, using the ‘SPOT’ embedded system, in a real project, with the aim of detecting possible non-conformities in the collective and individual protection elements of the work.

The implementation of the ‘0 ACCIDENTS’ project will help Spanish construction to reduce workplace accidents through the use of 4.0 technologies, which will enable the digitisation of all information relating to the prevention of occupational hazards in the workplace. This involves the capture, processing and analysis of information relating to the company's own personnel, the proper use of personal protective equipment, the environmental conditions of workplaces, the physical condition of the workforce and also the physical characteristics of the work environment.

The main objectives of the project are:

  • Definition of risk detection and accident prediction systems in construction environments and in environments that are particularly difficult to control and dangerous.
  • Development of a cognitive digital twin for accident prevention.
  • Development of a comprehensive management platform for occupational health and safety.
  • Development of prototypes that integrate new technologies and their validation in real and virtual controlled environments.

‘0 ACCIDENTS’ seeks to develop a comprehensive cognitive ecosystem for the real-time monitoring and prediction of situations that are dangerous to the health and safety of construction workers, by conducting research that enables the collection, interpretation, digitisation and intelligent and automatic management of the information generated in different construction environments.

In order to achieve the objectives set out in the project, a consortium has been created made up of eight companies representing the value chain: Two companies from the construction sector, FCC Construcción and Becsa, and six technology companies that research and develop mobile robotics technology for the identification of risk situations, such as Alisys; digital identity, Signe; digital twin, IDP; artificial intelligence, LIS Data; a platform that integrates the technologies developed, Fractalia, and intelligent EPIS, MPJAR.

The consortium has been defined on the basis of the high degree of expertise in all the companies, all of which are leaders in specific sectors. In addition, the companies and research organisations participating in the project are distributed throughout Spain.
Thanks to these validation tests, the ‘0 ACCIDENTS’ project continues to make progress in line with its objectives of improving health and safety on construction sites through the use of 4.0 technologies.
