The “Avenida del Talgo” project within the Metropolitan Forest receives a visit from the Councilor for Urban Development of the Madrid City Council and the London ambassador in Madrid. The project is included within the municipal initiative of Metropolitan Forest, where it is intended to re-naturalize parcels of municipal property in disuse.
The goal is to create meeting places for citizens, in the form of a metropolitan forest. On this occasion, a forest design in three ages has been chosen, where we can sketch what the future forest will be. Sustainable green areas will be generated where the development of vegetation can adapt to the natural conditions of the environment. Currently, 940 new adult trees and more than 1,300 two-sap trees have already been planted to give more lushness to the forest with more time for its adaptation.
The management of the water and runoff from the plot also make sense in this new forest, since elements are introduced so that the water management is done in favor of the optimization of this resource. For this, 2 kilometers of drainage ditches and 750 meters of vegetated gutters have been incorporated, as well as more than 2,000 square meters of rain gardens.
