The FCC Construcción project, Llotja Pescadors Port Barcelona, winner of the City of Barcelona Awards

The FCC Construcción project, Llotja Pescadors Port Barcelona, has won the City of Barcelona Awards. The building houses the new facilities for the fish auction in the port of Barcelona, an activity of the primary sector, as well as new spaces for the Fishermen's Association. The building is organised into three clearly differentiated blocks, each corresponding to specific functions and different processes, directly related to the functional needs of the auction of the different fishing methods, trawling and seining, and of the boat dock, as well as in the preparation, packaging and invoicing of the fish by the wholesalers.

These independent blocks are linked by walkways that allow for perfect communication and protection of the fish. Of the three blocks that make up the building, the central one corresponds to the functions of the Guild and to the Administration and Management of the complex. It is set back from the alignment of the other two and its west façade faces an open courtyard around which the accesses and main functions are structured.

The first floor is surrounded by a walkway which is accessed directly from the outside by a ramp that starts next to the Clock Tower, and which allows the general public to see up close all the processes of unloading and auctioning the fish without interfering with the work of the professionals. The North block, located next to the entrance to the fishing quay and next to the Clock Tower, is used entirely for buyers' activities. The South block, in addition to incorporating the ice factory, contains on the ground floor the box warehouse and the canteen for the exclusive use of the fishermen.

FCC Construcción is a company with extensive experience in the design and construction of unique non-residential building infrastructures.
