The “Neom Running Tunnels (Section West)” project reaches its first kilometer of progress

The "Neom Running Tunnels (Section West)" project, executed by a consortium led by FCC, reaches its first kilometer of progress, acting on five fronts of activity simultaneously.

The consortium led by FCC includes CSCEC (China State Construction Engineering Corporation Ltd.) and SAJCO (Shibh Al-Jazira Contracting Co.).

The FCC team, made up of 17 different nationalities, plans to reach ten simultaneous fronts and advance almost a kilometer and a half per month.

The project consists of the construction of 15.75 km of twin tunnels, with a final section of about 140 square meters each, executed using the "drill & blast" methodology.

This is the first project awarded by FCC in Neom, which is being developed in the northwestern area of Saudi Arabia. Running Tunnels is the part of the project that has been designed for the non-use of private vehicles with the aim of achieving a zero carbon emission city. The 170 km long city is included in the “Saudi Vision Project 2030“.
