The Mersey Bridge project involved the design, construction, financing, maintenance and operation of the bridge over the River Mersey in Liverpool, United Kingdom, to eliminate the traffic problems suffered by the bridge. The project consisted of constructing a new crossing over the River Mersey in Liverpool with a total length of more than 2 km, located east of the Silver Jubilee Bridge (inaugurated in the 1960s).

The new bridge is 2.13 km long and serves some 80,000 vehicles daily. It is a cable stayed structure 42 m wide with a maximum height of 42 m. The project also included remodelling 7 km of approach roads, 2.5 km of new motorway and the renovation of another 4.5 km of motorway as well as various communication connections.

Throughout the construction, operation and maintenance processes, the new bridge is expected to create 4,600 direct and indirect jobs. The project will benefit not only the Liverpool area, with a population of more than 1.6 million, but also the north-west area of England.
