FCC Construcción wins the construction contract for the new Aranda Hospital (Burgos)
FCC Construcción has won the execution contract for the new Hospital de Aranda in Burgos. A contract that has a budget of 108 million euros and a completion period of 42 months.
The current hospital center has had several extensions since its construction, without the possibility of undertaking new increases. For this reason, the new hospital will be built on a plot of 98,646 square meters, with a constructed area of 48,294, compared to the current 11,361, that is, it will multiply the area by four, and will have double-height buildings and five landscaped areas. The location of the building allows it to be provided with four different entrances, one of which is pedestrian only, taking advantage of the future stop for the urban bus service. Each of these entrances will have its own car park, totaling 326 spaces and areas for bicycles.
It is expected that the ground floor will house, for example, the Emergencies, Diagnostic Imaging, the Day Hospital, Dialysis, Extractions and Rehabilitation, Admission, Clinical Documentation, the Teaching and Research area, in addition to part of the external consultations, the Pharmacy, linen and changing rooms, as well as the cafeteria, which will have separate areas for users and workers.
The first floor will have, among other services, the Direction and Management area, the rest of the external consultations and examination rooms, the laboratories, the Obstetric Unit, near which the Maternal and Child Hospitalization Unit and the laboratories will be located. This plant will also have the Surgical Block, with five operating rooms, the surgical day hospital, endoscopies and sterilization. The project also includes rooms for guard personnel and the Occupational Health service.
The last two floors are going to be reserved for the hospitalization of patients. One of the most outstanding innovations is that this area increases the number of beds, from the current 111 to 144, spread over 75 rooms.
The maintenance areas, installation centers and the waste unit will be located in an independent block. The location of a heliport is also planned, which will be connected to the central building through a walkway.
FCC Construcción is a specialized company and leader in sanitary infrastructures. It currently runs hospitals such as: Salamanca, Puertollano, Soria, Cabueñes in Gijón, Marina Baixa (Alicante), among others.
