FCC Construcción reaches 70% progress in the expansion project of the port of Playa Blanca (Lanzarote)
FCC Construcción has reached 70% progress in the expansion project for the port of Playa Blanca. The works are intended to order maritime traffic, separating regular passenger ships from sports and fishing vessels.
The works have an amount of more than 39 million euros and an execution period of 48 months.
Work is currently underway on the outer docks, the inner docks and the esplanade, which will be fully completed by the beginning of next year, pending the execution of the inner urbanization and the new passenger terminal.
The new exterior dock (which has been built with 13 concrete boxes) will have two berths of 100 and 170 meters with the capacity to maintain the current traffic on the ferry route with Fuerteventura. A third 300-meter berth will have mixed use and the capacity to dock medium cruises up to 240 meters in length.
The inner dock (the existing port) will be reserved for fishing and recreational use, increasing the number of berths of these ships by 50, from 160 to 210. In addition, a new terminal will be built on the new esplanade of the port 1,700 square meters and new parking areas.
