FCC Construccion attends the presentation of the Industrial Construction Observatory
The construction area of the FCC Group has attended the presentation of the Industrial Construction Observatory. The presentation was made last Thursday, April 5 at the Headquarters of the Economic and Social Council.
The act was inaugurated by the president of the Economic Social Council, Marcos Peña Nieto, and had the collaboration of the general manager of the Fundacion Laboral Construccion, Enrique Corral Álvarez; the General Secretary of the UGT-FICA, Pedro Hojas; the general secretary of CCOO of Construction, Vicente Sánchez and the president of the National Confederation of Construction, Juan Francisco Lazcano.
The act was closed by the Employment Minister, Fatima Bañez. The Fundacion Laboral Construccion exposed the need to increase the digital qualification, and the incorporation of young people to the sector, to enhance their recovery after the last year the largest increase in workers has occurred in those over 60 (a 7.9%).
The construction sector creates employment at a rate of 5.97%, almost double the national average, advancing in the recovery progressively. To preserve the strength of the sector's growth within the Spanish economy and to face the challenges of the future, it is necessary to improve prevention and health at work and give new force to professional training.
The director of training of the Fundacion Laboral Construccion, pointed out the specialization and prestige of university graduates related to construction. In Spain, 23,719 students are enrolled in architecture degrees, 18,429 in civil engineering and building degrees. With these data, in the higher educational levels, construction does not present a deficit of professionals.
Attending to the higher educational cycles have not stopped falling in the branches linked to construction. At present, we only have 5,300 students of vocational training, generating a problem of training shortage at intermediate levels. In the act, the minister encouraged the union and business organizations to agree to negotiate.
It has also ensured that the new vocational training is better adapted to each sector and has reminded that in addition to the accredited training provided by the certificates, the higher educational cycles now also has other instruments that allow programming quality content, such as training specialties.
