FCC Construcción moves forward with the Solana de Valdebebas urban development project (Madrid)
FCC Construcción continues to make progress on the Solana de Valdebebas urban development project in Madrid, a project that integrates sustainable mobility, energy efficiency and green infrastructure.
Work is underway on site preparation and the construction of basic infrastructure, including earthworks, clearing, road embankments and underground sanitation networks. In some areas, the trenches and sewage pipes have already been completed, as well as the technical galleries for the management of sewage and rainwater, making solid progress in the development of one of Madrid's most ambitious urban projects.
The project includes a full range of public and private facilities, strategically located to facilitate connectivity with green spaces and main thoroughfares. Private facilities are located in transition zones that connect the boundaries of the sector with residential areas, thus promoting a continuous and functional urban structure.
The project allocates 290,000 m² to green areas, with pedestrian corridors, footpaths and cycle lanes that encourage sustainable travel. With more than 4,600 native trees, ecological continuity is guaranteed, habitats for wildlife are created and the regeneration of the surrounding vegetation is promoted. In addition, it incorporates a sustainable urban drainage system that recovers, treats and returns some 200,000 m³ of rainwater per year to the natural watercourse, reinforcing water resilience and preventing flooding.
