FCC Construcción installs speed bumps for the primary school in the Chorrera district of Panama

The Citizen Services Group has placed two speed bumps in front of Victoria D Spinay School in Balboa neighbourhood in the Chorrera district of Panama. The project aims to avoid accidents from occurring opposite or near to the school where students, family members and teachers attend every day.

Implementation of the speed bumps was carried out by members of the Maintenance and Community Affairs division of FCC Construcción in La Chorrera, as a response to the concern expressed by citizens and teaching staff in the area on a radio programme broadcast in West Panama and presented by commentator Denis Talavera. This preventive measure implemented in this school, one of the largest in the area, will benefit more than two thousand students, dispersed between morning and evening classes.

With this initiative nested within the company's corporate social responsibility plan, FCC Construcción pursues efforts to promote education. In August of last year, another two speed bumps were built on the main road leading to the Escuela República de Costa Rica, in the centre of Chorrera.

A permanent community support program has been developed in this district in which different activities were carried out including: reforestation, road safety training and reading promotion, cleaning workshops, talks on health, workshops for housewives, tournaments to promote support, among other activities.
