FCC Construcción begins the integral rehabilitation works of the Parador de San Marcos de León. The demolition of the modern building of the Parador Hostal San Marcos de León has begun, as part of the first phase of the rehabilitation works started on April 10, after its award to the company FCC Construcción with a budget of 13.04 million of euros and an execution period of 16 months.

This first phase includes the rehabilitation of the historic building and the demolition of the modern one.

The beginning of this work is a milestone in the history of Hostal San Marcos, because this will be the first integral rehabilitation of the establishment since its opening in 1965.

A reform that will adapt the facilities of this building to the demands of customers and visitors, and place the city of León, not only as a hotel reference for the Paradores network, but also throughout Castilla y León, the Camino de Santiago and Spain.

The renovation works of Hostal San Marcos the most important hotel project undertaken by Paradores since 2010, whose complexity and volume have required an exhaustive and careful planning.

The estimated term of execution of the works in this first phase is 16 months, so it is expected that the Hostal de San Marcos can reopen its doors in the summer of 2019. After the reopening, the number of rooms in the historic building of the Parador will go from 26 to 52, all of them different, respecting the uniqueness of the building. In addition, the reforms of this phase will also affect the reception, kitchens, restaurant, and the great halls of the first floor and those of the basement. In this rehabilitation exterior spaces will be recovered, recovering a patio, until now covered by slabs that sustained, among other facilities, the kitchens of the hostel.

Later in the second phase, the new building will be built to create a new space with 180 rooms and 12 meeting rooms for conventions and a new restaurant, spa and pool.

Thus, once the works are completed, the renovated building, which includes the restoration works of the facade that Turespaña is carrying out, will combine the historical legacy of its monumentality with the new demands of the client, who seeks to live unique experiences.

The Parador de León will maintain the same artistic and decorative quality that it has had during these years once these comprehensive renovation works have been completed. The project includes the creation of a space that will house some of the most important artistic pieces of the establishment.

With the reform of the Hostal San Marcos, Paradores redoubles the commitment that has always been decided by the city of León and undertakes one of the largest investments of the public company that will improve the competitiveness and positioning of the Hostal de San Marcos and substantially improve the hotel and gastronomic offer of the city of León.
