FCC Construcción to build a section of the A-33 in Murcia for € 17 million

The Ministry of Public Works has awarded FCC Construcción, as a joint venture, the construction of the Cieza-Fuente, La Higuera, Murcia, A-33 motorway comprising the N-344 interchange connecting with Jumilla, and the C-3223 interchange joining with Yecla, for a total of € 17.15 million.

This section is located in the towns of Jumilla and Yecla and will span over 7.5 kilometres.

  • The most significant characteristics are outlined below: 
  • The axis almost entirely runs along embankments, reaching a height of 6 metres in some areas.
  • The cross-section of the motorway is made up of 2 carriageways (one for each direction of traffic), separated by a 10-metre wide mean strip between decks.
  • Both carriageways comprise two 3.5-metre wide lanes, one 1-metre wide inner hard shoulder, a 2.5-metre outer hard shoulder and a 1-metre outer berm.

Envisaged along the route also is the construction of 7 structures, 4 underpasses and 3 overpasses made with post-tensioned slab decks.
