FCC Construcción continues to develop the Community Initiatives Program in its project "Expansion of the A-465 Wales motorway" (United Kingdom)

FCC Construcción, as part of the Community Initiatives Program of the "A-465 Wales motorway expansion" project (United Kingdom), has supported 45 community groups. One of them is The South East Wales Rivers Trust, with which they have collaborated in community restoration in various actions: detection of bats; in the garbage collection program, as well as in different studies of rivers and fluvial courses.

This local entity, since 2007 has played a key role in the protection and improvement of the aquatic environment, as well as with the associated habitat of the rivers in the valleys of South Wales, which run through heavily industrialized areas.

The entity is supported by many organisations, including DWR Cymru Welsh Water, Pen and Cymoedd Windfarm and The Welsh Government. Along the Afon Cynon, inspection work is being carried out to assess the state of the river courses. This activity is allowing people to develop an opportunity to value the protection and improvement of the local environment.

Trust Chairman Tony Rees explained that "the support of Future Valleys Construction has been a real benefit to us as it will support our activities in the future, particularly through the bat detectors."

The South East Wales Rivers Trust offers a wide range of activities including environmental monitoring, public events, clean-up events, bat-spotting nights and a community river restoration course which is run with NRW.
