FCC Construcción will develop in Valdegrulla and Valdesenderín the living spaces that will provide for the Metropolitan Forest

El Bosque Metropolitano, the 75-kilometer forest ring that will border the city, continues to advance. FCC Construcción will develop in Valdegrulla and in the area of Valdesenderín, in the district of Fuencarral-El Pardo, for an amount of 3 million euros for the necessary works for the conditioning and placement in the value of the municipal parcel located in this area for the future implantation of a municipal nursery for the production of forestry plants, which will provide for the Metropolitan Forest.

The Vivero, which will have five platforms with a perimeter path and a pedestrian path that unites them all, will be complemented with elements to be able to carry out training and didactic actions, in addition to being able to develop lines of research and scientific experimentation through agreements with entities such as can be the Instituto Nacional de Investigación y Tecnología Agraria y Alimentaria (INIA) or the Real Jardín Botánico.

On the upper platform, the administration facilities, training and clothing classes, in addition to a small parking lot, will be located. The intermediate platforms will have the greenhouses and a stationary area to provide free air training, while the lower platforms will be dedicated to the plant hardening area and a surface will be left for planting in natural terrain.

Recovery of an abandoned land

This part of the Urban Development Area has a surface of 34,945 m2 and was in a state of total abandonment that allowed for the disposal of all types of waste. Therefore, in a first phase, the plot was dismantled and modeled, by means of the execution of banks, managing to recover this soil near Monte de Valdelatas.

The immediate benefits for the citizenry of this first action are translated in the puesta in the value of a parcel that, until then, presented a high environmental degradation, conversions, uncontrolled parking of vehicles, illegal occupations and all kinds of incidents that, in addition to suppose a factor of malaise in the neighborhood, translates into a continuous disbursement of municipal funds to try to alleviate, as far as possible, the consequences derived from the lack of use foreseen by the planning for these regions.

Once the land has been recovered, the works included in this 2nd phase include the execution of the necessary infrastructures -such as accesses, roads and estanciales, the irrigation network, the installation of urban furniture or the plantation of tree species- for implantation of a future vivarium. The construction site will last eight months.

This action forms part of the Bosque Metropolitano, the great green infrastructure that will surround Madrid, with the objective of improving the air's heat, mitigating the heat island, adapting the city to climate change and conserving biodiversity, among others.
