FCC Construcción develops 4.0 technologies as a lifeline to workplace accidents
The 0ACCIDNTES project aims to increase surveillance of the site and guarantee faster action in the event of accidents, as well as incorporating different types of prediction to prevent them.
In 2023, occupational accidents registered in the prevention services amounted to 81,961, 10% more than in the previous year, according to data collected by the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy. Moreover, the construction sector has been one of the most affected by these data, with 5,689 accidents. If we add to this situation the effects of climate change, which can cause drastic changes in the weather such as excessive heat, ultraviolet radiation or pollution, accidents at work will continue to increase.
To curb this reality and improve risk prevention control, FCC Construcción is developing 4.0 technologies such as Artificial Vision, blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, robotics and sensors based on the Internet of Things paradigm. All of this is part of the 0ACCIDNTES project, an initiative that will be launched at the end of 2023 with the support of the Spanish Construction Technology Platform, with the aim of increasing surveillance of the construction site and guaranteeing faster action in the event of accidents, as well as incorporating different types of prediction to prevent them.
This is a project led by FCC Construcción with the collaboration of major benchmarks in the construction and technology sector (Becsa, Fractalia, Metálicas Plásticas Jar, Alisys, IDP, LIS Data Solutions and Signe). The Technology Centre is developing an algorithm that will bring prevention actions and plans closer to the real state of the work environment. To increase the success of the Artificial Intelligence predictions, records from the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy are being used which, in the future, will enable the system to be able to learn by itself to anticipate dangerous situations and help reduce accidents in the workplace.
FCC Construcción has joined the international campaign on the occasion of World Day for Safety and Health at Work, thus being able to analyse the impact of climate change on safety and health at work, so that we can work to ensure safe and healthy work.
