FCC Construcción develops different collaborations for the certification of R&D&I actions
FCC Construcción develops different collaborations for the certification of different actions in R&D&i.
The certification process is key for the company as it allows:
- To be able to accredit R&D&i projects in works competitions and other contracts in these types of activities, providing additional points in some tenders.
- Get tax deductions for R&D&i in corporate tax.
- Increase the areas of activity in R&D&i in the certificate of the R&D&i Management system in accordance with the UNE Standard 166002: 2014 AENOR Certificate.
In this last year, the following 2020 certifications have been completed:
BALEARIC PIER: Innovative design of the espalier of a pier with concrete reinforced with short polypropylene fibers. It has been certified as "TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION" thanks to the help and collaboration of the staff of the Balearic pier (Port of Tarragona) and the Technical Services directorate.
In this project, the addition of short polypropylene fibers to concrete was investigated, substantially improving the durability of the element by eliminating reinforcements susceptible to corrosion by the action of chlorides, and their execution. Tensile strength has been guaranteed, in addition to limiting and stabilizing cracking, which has made it possible to lighten and eliminate the amount of steel reinforcements in a reinforced concrete. REMODELING OF THE SANTIAGO BERNABÉU STADIUM (roof structure): Innovative design and development of a steel structure, formed by hybrid triangulated beams. It has been certified as "TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION" thanks to the help and collaboration of the staff of the Bernabéu site and the Technical Services directorate.

In this project, research has been carried out on the materials, design and development of the fixed structure of the roof, which has been designed using large triangulated trusses. Three types of steel with different elastic limits have been used: S355, S460 and S690, highlighting the latter steel, which is used for the first time in Spain, in this project. All the pieces manufactured in the workshop are pre-assembled on site on the ground or auxiliary structures, forming sets that are later placed in their final position using large cranes or heavy lifting equipment. The pieces have been designed with screwed joints to avoid welding on site and, consequently, the control of the same, which has meant greater safety on site and savings in specialized labor. REMODELING OF THE SANTIAGO BERNABEU STADIUM (screen wall anchors): Recoverable anchors for concrete protection screens for buildings basements. It has been certified as "TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION" thanks to the help and collaboration of the staff of the Bernabéu work and the Technical Services directorate. The technological innovation proposed in the project consisted of an anchoring system that combines the geotechnical qualities of a compression anchor with a simple method of recovery of the anchor armor. This is the QUICK-EX anchor. The steel cables are wrapped by a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) tube along the entire length of the anchorage and are assembled at the distal end inside a metal cylinder with threaded holes, called the anchor foot.

When the service life of the anchor is over, this system allows the cables to be removed manually. The first step consists of un-tensioning steel cables. The unlocked wedges are then removed from the wedge holder. Each of the cables is then rotated with a wrench or socket wrench. This rotation causes the threaded extrusion sleeve of the distal end of the cable to loosen from the anchor foot. Once the sleeve has been completely unscrewed, the cables can be removed manually by pulling them. (Certificate)
