FCC Construcción employees and family members participate in a reforestation day at the Bosque Metropolitano project
Employees and family members of FCC Construcción and Fundación At Madrid have participated in a day to plant different tree species in "El Cañaveral", as part of the actions that the company develops for the Bosque Metropolitano project.
More than 1,500 new specimens to be planted in this great green lung of the capital. Before starting to plant, they received an explanation from Seo Birdlife, which collaborates with the City Council on this initiative. The organization spoke to the volunteers about the benefits of making plantations of this type, how and where to plant, the reason for the species chosen and the importance of building, together, this great green infrastructure that will contribute to mitigating the effects of the island heat and climate change.
In total, some 1,575 specimens will be planted during the conference, between trees and shrubs.
Currently, more than 130,000 specimens have been planted in the Bosque Metropolitano and 16 hectares have already been opened to the public in the plots of Campo de las Naciones and Avenida del Talgo.
With a view to 2023, the Madrid City Council has budgeted 28.3 million euros to continue this green ring. A figure that includes the development of the winning projects of the Bosque Metropolitano ideas competition and the progress of many other works such as the Villaverde green belt, which will see the completion of the first athletics track in Madrid integrated into nature.
An example of society's participation in actions related to the environment, like the ones we usually present in Madrid en Verde, such as this unique biodiversity conservation project.
