FCC Construcción enters the shortlist of the expansion project of the Sydney Metro to the Western Sydney Airport
FCC Construcción has been selected to tender the expansion project of the Sidney Metro to the West Sidney Airport. This is the third major package of contracts for Airport Metro.
The winner of the contract will build six new metro stations and will also develop the facilities and maintenance of these stations. It will provide the infrastructure and rail systems necessary for the supply, commissioning and operations of the new trains, and will run the Sydney Metro - Western Sydney Airport line.
The Sydney Metro - Western Sydney Airport line will serve Greater Western Sydney and the new Western Sydney International Airport (Nancy-Bird Walton).
The consortia shortlisted to bid for the project are:
- Bradfield Metro, made up of John Laing Limited, Keolis Downer Pty Ltd, FCC Construction Australia Pty Ltd and Hitachi Rail STS Australia Pty Ltd. Made up of leading companies and benchmarks in urban transport infrastructure.
- Parklife Metro, made up of Plenary Origination Pty Ltd, Webuild SpA, RATP Developpement SA, Siemens Mobility Pty Ltd, Siemens Mobility GmbH, Siemens Project Ventures GmbH and Siemens Mobility Austria GmbH.
- WestGo, made up of Pacific Partnerships Pty Ltd, Acciona Concesiones, SL, DIF Management Australia Pty Ltd, CPB Contractors Pty Limited, Acciona Construction Australia Pty Ltd, UGL Engineering Pty Ltd, ComfortDelGro Transit Pte. Ltd, UGL Rail Services Pty Ltd and Coleman Rail Pty Ltd.
The Sydney Metro - Western Sydney Airport project will create more than 14,000 jobs.
The contract is expected to be awarded in late 2022.
The Bradfield Metro Consortium takes its name from the visionary and renowned engineer John Bradfield. Bradfield designed and supervised the construction of both the Sydney Harbor Bridge and the original Sydney rail network.
