FCC Construcción completes the new Civil Guard building in Zaragoza, a state-of-the-art facility in terms of sustainability and operability. This project is part of the State Security Infrastructure Plan approved in 2019.
The project, carried out by FCC Construcción and FCC Industrial, stands on a plot of 52,000 m², with more than 22,000 m² of built area, and stands out for its functional, sustainable design that respects the urban and natural environment.
The building the Zaragoza Command and the Reserve and Security Group No. 5 (GRS), along with specialised units such as EMUME, GEDEX, GATI, medical service, auditorium, sports centre, shooting range, training ground, canine unit and five functional dwellings. It has 299 parking spaces, charging points for electric vehicles and specific areas for bicycles.
The infrastructure has been designed as a Nearly Zero Energy Building (EECN), obtaining ‘SILVER’ certification from the Green Building Council Spain (GBCe). It incorporates 392 photovoltaic panels, intelligent air conditioning and lighting systems, water saving, sound insulation and universal accessibility.
This new barracks reinforces the presence of the Civil Guard in Aragon, where it serves in 727 of the 731 municipalities, and becomes a model of modern, efficient public infrastructure committed to the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda.
