FCC Construcción wins the expansion contract for the Villajoyosa hospital (Alicante)

FCC Construcción has won the contract to expand the Marina Baixa public hospital in Villajoyosa (Alicante). The project has a budget of 60 million euros and an execution period of 30 months. FCC Construcción will carry out the construction of the new sanitary extension together with the Bertolín company. The project contemplates doubling the healthcare space of the hospital, which will increase to 63,000 square meters, with the construction of a new building connected to the current hospital, which will occupy a plot of 21,000 square meters. A large part of the techno-assistance services, as well as the new emergencies, will be located in the new building. In addition, it will have a Short Stay Unit, a new diagnostic imaging area, which will have two CT rooms, magnetic resonance imaging, conventional radiology and a mammograph.

On the other hand, a new surgical block will be installed with 12 operating rooms, a new obstetric area, a new ICU and a new sterilization center.

FCC Construction benchmark in health infrastructure

This new health contract is added to the recent award of the new hospital in Puertollano (Ciudad Real). Currently, FCC Construcción has just completed one of the largest hospitals in Spain, such as the Salamanca university hospital or the expansion of the San Juan de Dios hospital (Seville). It executes the new hospital in Soria, the new hospital in La Coruña (Galicia) as well as the future hospital in Jersey (United Kingdom).
