FCC Construcción wins the contract to expand the Cabueñes university hospital (Asturias, Gijón)
FCC Construcción, together with the construction company Los Álamos, have presented the best economic score and one of the best technical scores in the contest.
In this first stage, a new building of 51,232 square meters will be built, which will double the current area of the complex. This new building will be the center of hospital care activity. Among other services, it will house emergencies, outpatient consultations, surgical blocks, ICU, laboratories, pharmacy, sterilization, dialysis and the oncohematology day hospital. The building will consist of four care floors, semi-basement and basement, and will also include two technical mezzanines that will facilitate the maintenance of facilities without accessing the health area.
Thus, on the ground floor, the Emergency Room and Diagnosis by Imaging will be located, on the second floor there will be the external consultations, the dialysis service, functional test cabinets and medical offices, while the surgical area, which will have 19 operating rooms, will occupy the third floor. , which will also house two post-anesthesia recovery units and another post-surgical critical care unit.
For its part, the oncohematology day hospital will be located on the fifth floor, which will also house the Hematology and Hemotherapy, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Emergency laboratories, as well as hematology consultations and the blood bank, and the top floor will house the ICU and a rest area for medical guards. The building will have a semi-basement, with direct independent access from the outside, where central services such as pharmacy, sterilization, stores and staff changing rooms and other facilities will be located.
FCC Construcción is a company specialized in hospital infrastructures. This year, it has been awarded the construction of the Puertollano hospital and the Marina Baja hospital. The construction of the San Juan de Dios hospital in Seville and the Salamanca hospital has recently been completed. Currently, it continues to execute the Soria hospital.
