FCC Construcción wins the construction project of the Quisi viaduct, in the CALP-TEULADA section of line 9 of the Alicante Tram

FCC Construcción has won the contract to build the Quisi viaduct, on the Calp-Teulada section of line 9 of the Alicante Tram network.

The work consists of the unfolding of the current Santa Ana viaduct on line 9 of the Alicante Tram network, over the Barranco del Quisi, in Benissa (Alicante). The existing Santa Ana Bridge was built in 1914 using a Pratt type metal structure, which is why this bridge has exceeded the design life of 100 years. For structural safety reasons, a load limitation on said existing bridge is recommended, which makes its use incompatible with the new fleet acquired by FGV (diesel-electric hybrid trains), which are heavier vehicles than diesel trains currently they are circulating through it.

To do this, FCC Construcción will execute a variant section of the line currently in service, which includes the construction of a new 370-meter-long viaduct.

The works on the track superstructure will consist of the laying of the ballast layer / sub-ballast under the prestressed concrete monobloc sleeper and track assembly.
