FCC Construcción starts the GAUDÍ project, in which an advanced knowledge management platform will be developed

Construction companies have great difficulty in identifying, storing and managing to reuse the expert knowledge generated after the execution of their projects. This problem is increased by the high turnover of its workers, especially in times of crisis, given that the knowledge and experience they may accumulate is not registered or managed in an efficient way, at present, in these companies. . To which, in addition, we must add the difficulty of identifying those contents that add value, within the enormous amount of data that can be produced in the environment of a work.

The Ministry of Science and Innovation, through CDTI, through FEDER Funds, has approved the GAUDÍ Innovation project, "New knowledge management platform based on Artificial Intelligence algorithms and Content Curation techniques", part of which is the implementation at FCCCO. The project lasts for a year and a half (2019-2021), and will be developed jointly with the company, VASS CONSULTORÍA DE SISTEMAS.

The GAUDI project proposes the development of an intelligent knowledge management platform, through a new system with processes of identification, selection and generation of environments and content, to promote adequate Knowledge Management that, by applying analysis methods of information management and the use of ICT tools will allow:

  • Capture and preserve expert construction knowledge, understood as one of the company's main assets.
  • Process relevant information that helps to compare similar works with different problems, relating data and information in an agile and effective way.
  • Real-time consultation of information relevant to the work, both internal to the company obtained by its experience in the sector, and from external sources.
  • Provide data / images / monitoring of the actions on site in an easy way, in such a way that it encourages users to download the information into it.

A new model of Knowledge Management in the construction sector will be developed from the study of the business processes defined in the Management Systems that Large Companies have implemented, considering the classic knowledge processes: (1) creation of knowledge , (2) storage and retrieval, (3) transfer, and (4) application.
