FCC Construcción begins the transfer and assembly of the "U" of the project to expand Line 2 of the Panama Metro

FCC Construcción has started the transfer and assembly of the "U" of the expansion project for line 2 of the Panama metro. The "Airport line" project is 31% complete and reaches a new important construction milestone, beginning the transfer and assembly of the "U" beams. The "U" beams will be moved in compliance with security requirements and planned logistics with the corresponding authorities. The first assembly will take place at the ITSE station.

For the “Branch of Line 2” project, 96 “U” and 10 “semi-U” beams will be mounted along two kilometers from the Corredor Sur station of Line 2 to the new terminal of Tocumen International Airport.

The contract has an execution period of 28 months and a budget of more than 90 million euros, which covers design engineering services, construction of civil works, auxiliary line facilities and stations, and interfaces with systems integrated railways for the start-up of the branch connecting Line 2 of the Metro with the Superior Technical Institute of the East (ITSE), which will house more than 5,000 young people, and the Tocumen International Airport (AIT). The project has an extension of 2 kilometers and involves the construction of two stations.

The FCC Group construction area has significant experience in the development of urban transport infrastructures. Currently, in addition to the aforementioned line 2 of the Panama metro, it runs lines 4, 5 and 6 of the Riyadh metro, red line of the Doha Metro (Qatar), line 2 and branch line 4 of the Lima metro (Peru) and The Toronto (Canada) subway has recently been completed.
