FCC Construcción obtains the Europa Nostra award for the rehabilitation of the Monastery of San Juan
FCC Construcción has been awarded the Europa Nostra award in the category religious heritage, the rehabilitation of the Monastery of San Juan (Burgos).
For the awarding of the prize, the jury has valued the scrupulous respect of the monastery's vestiges, protecting them from the extreme climate of Burgos by means of a steel, wood and glass roof over the perimeter walls of the church of the Monastery of San Juan. In the words of the jury "this project has presented an innovative approach to reuse an important ruin and has revitalized the space for community use through public and private events of the museum.
This high quality work is of an elegant design and does not in any way attempt to replicate previous performances. The solution is not invasive but offers effective protection”.
The event took place on January 25, at the Monastery of San Juan, being chaired by Majesty Queen Sofia. In addition, representative members of the Council of Burgos attended as well as by FCC Construcción, the Delegate of the North Zone, Roberto Monteagudo and the head of the department responsible for the action, Javier Courel.
