FCC Construcción participates in BIMExpo 2022

FCC Construcción has participated in BIMEXPO 2022. BIMExpo is the benchmark fair in the infrastructure sector in terms of networking, knowledge and BIM solutions. The event brought together the greatest BIM leaders in Spain, who discussed the transformation of the construction sector. Companies such as ADIF, AECOM, FCC Construcción, Kronos led different discussion tables.

BIMExpo, the main meeting point in southern Europe for the BIM world. The implementation of the BIM methodology is a transformation opportunity for the construction sector, since it facilitates a sustainable building, is more efficient and represents cost savings of between 13 and 21% in the construction phase and between 10 and 17% in the operations phase.

However, it also has certain barriers to its full implementation, such as the need to make a significant investment in technology and training.

FCC Construcción has participated in BIMExpo 22 with several representatives:

  • Antonio Burgueño (Quality, CSR and R+D+i Director) participated in the round table on BIM, Sustainability and Circular Economy. Topics as relevant and topical as the use of BIM to integrate the evaluation of sustainability were discussed, and as a consequence the circularity of construction, which implies the management and control of a very important amount of information.
  • José Carlos Rico (Head of BIM Management at FCC Construcción, and member of the Board of Directors of buildinSMART), moderated the presentations on BIM applied to infrastructures. Different types of infrastructure projects were presented (sports, railway, highway and airport), evidencing the increasing presence of BIM beyond residential and commercial construction.
  • María Méndez (BIM Manager of the Hospital de Puertollano), participated in a round table that discussed the Strategies and opportunities of the BIM methodology, together with other professionals of recognized prestige in the sector.
