FCC Construcción participates in the 1st El Economista Infrastructure Forum
FCC Construcción has participated in the 1st El Economista Infrastructure Forum. The Minister of Transport, Mobility and the Urban Agenda participated in it, together with the Director of Spain, Portugal and the industrial area of FCC Construcción, Jose A Madrazo, as well as other representatives of companies in the sector.
The companies and the Minister have defended public investment in infrastructure as a lever to strengthen the economy and the social and territorial cohesion of Spain, as well as help to correct inequalities.
An investment in infrastructure that will continue to promote and adapt to market changes, and whose focus is centering on the emphasis on safety and sustainability in the face of the climate emergency, with the train and energy efficiency as protagonists.
Regarding the importance of the deployment of infrastructures, terrestrial as well as port and air infrastructures are among the seven best in the world and have been key to the internationalization of the economy and to the social and territorial structuring.
Today Spain leads after China in high-speed rail. Spain is the country in Europe with the most kilometers of high-capacity roads, the first in container port traffic and we have the first global airport operator by number of passengers.
Within the framework of public investment, MITMA managed to close 2020, the first year of the pandemic, with a work execution 8% higher than that of 2019 despite the adverse circumstances. In 2021 it tripled the tenders. And that in 2022 it has far exceeded these figures.
The deployment of the 16,700 million European funds from the Recovery Plan is key, and they will be mobilized practically in their entirety throughout this year. In addition, the 2023 Budgets have an endowment of more than 21,000 million euros, of which 16,550 million are investments, a figure that represents an increase of 64% compared to the general accounts of 2018.
