FCC Construcción participated in the second edition of the Sostenibilidad.es Congress, an event that brought together representatives from the banking, automotive, energy, telecommunications and construction sectors to analyse progress and challenges in the field of sustainability.

The conference featured prominent speakers and experts who addressed the regulatory, economic and social challenges of the transition to a sustainable model in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and European and national decarbonisation plans in various panel discussions.

On behalf of FCC Construcción, Antonio Burgueño, Director of Sustainability, highlighted the company's pioneering role as a leader in sustainability in its sector. The various round tables discussed issues such as the commitment of banks to financing the decarbonisation of sectors such as air and land transport and how digitalisation is a tool for advancing environmental sustainability. Likewise, the importance of renewing transport fleets with electric vehicles and promoting the recycling of materials from car wear and tear for reuse in infrastructure was highlighted, thus promoting the circular economy and the sustainability of the sector. It is essential to carry out preliminary studies for each project to ensure respect for diversity and to develop programmes to protect Spain's environmental heritage.

The development of sustainable finance in the Spanish business ecosystem is key. FCC Construcción was the first Spanish company to join the United Nations Sustainable Finance group and the first construction company in the world to join this initiative.
