FCC Construcción participates in the first Sustainability.es congress ‘Our Gestures Count’.

FCC Construcción is taking part in the first Sustainability.es congress, ‘ Our Gestures Count’, a key event for dialogue on sustainability, sustainable architecture, energy and mobility, the circular economy and responsible consumption.

The event was attended by Sergio Arjona Jiménez, Deputy Minister of Sustainability and Environment of the Andalusian Regional Government, who opened the conference by reminding that sustainability is not an option, but a necessity, such as the Andalusian Strategy for Sustainable Development 2030, which seeks to align public and private policies towards a green economy and greater social cohesion.

Antonio Burgueño, FCC Construcción's Sustainability Manager, stressed that decarbonisation is an urgent challenge for the sector, which requires collaboration between all the actors involved. Working together is key to tackling this challenge and moving towards a more sustainable future. He also emphasised the role of resilient infrastructures in the face of climate change, highlighting that new strategies must focus on mitigating and adapting to these changes.

The Regional Minister for the Environment, Agriculture and the Interior of the Community of Madrid, Carlos Novillo, closed the event, underlining the regional commitment to sustainability and the need to continue promoting collaborative actions to face the environmental challenges of the future. The Minister also stressed that the Region of Madrid has invested in infrastructures to ensure water supply, which has meant that the region does not face significant water problems. He advocated a balanced approach that considers both sustainability and the economic viability of the agricultural and livestock sectors.
