FCC Construccion has participated in the technical conference "Environmental analysis and costs in the life cycle of pavements and pavements". The day held on November 6 was organized by the Centro de Estudios y Técnicas Aplicadas, CETA (CEDEX). Participated among others, the director of the ATC, general director of roads of the Ministerio de Fomento,  director of CEDEX, technical director of roads of the Ministerio de Fomento, the general deputy director of projects of the general direction of roads of the Ministerio de Fomento, deputy director general of conservation of roads and public infrastructures of the City Council Madrid, among others.

On behalf of FCC Construccion, Antonio Burgueño, director of quality and CSR participated, which made an exhibition on the role of standardization in the sustainability of national and international civil works.

Roads are a fundamental aspect in the economic and social development of a country. They use large amounts of materials and energy, generating significant environmental impacts, so we must seek to maximize the former (its benefits on the economy and society) by minimizing the latter (environmental conditions).

The set of environmental, economic and social aspects associated with the life cycle of road infrastructure must be analyzed in depth. To start this work, we have taken as a starting point pavements and pavements, with the aim of acquiring experience before tackling in the future more complex aspects of this infrastructure (layout, earthworks, drainage, etc.).

The day was structured in three blocks. In the first one, the most relevant aspects of these techniques in their environmental component were discussed: their state of the art, the reason for the convenience of their application to the roads as well as their usefulness. In the second, the Life Cycle Cost Analysis (including the environmental aspects) was discussed in an analogous way and the most relevant issues of its application in the Green Public Procurement and Contracting (CCPV) will be discussed.

In the last block the utilities of Labeling and Certification were exposed, as well as the advances in the regulation of sustainability evaluation applied to Civil Works, highlighting the importance of having reliable environmental information.
