FCC Construcción takes part in the ACHE Technical Congress
FCC Construcción has taken part in the 2015 Technical Workshop organised by the Scientific-Technical Association for Structural Concrete (ACHE) entitled "extradosed bridges: the latest challenge".
José Rafael Jiménez Aguilar, Head of Bridges II Department - Specialist Technical Support at FCC Construcción and Juan Manuel Linero, from the BBR Network, were the speakers who talked about the company's experience working on the Vidin bridge which crosses the river Danube and connects Bulgaria and Romania.
During the presentation, Rafael and Juan Manual explained the structural concept behind this type of bridge and analysed the different criteria that were followed regarding the design and construction process of this 1,791 m-long infrastructure. The bridge combines road and rail traffic and forms part of the IV Pan-European Transport Corridor from Dresden to Istanbul which stretches over more than 2,000 kilometres.
It comprises four lanes for road traffic, single-line electric railway, bicycle lane and two lanes for pedestrians and services, all incorporated on one deck.
The aim of this event is to raise awareness of the origin, history, structural concept and innovation of the extradosed structure, as well as to analyze specific cases of finished or on-course projects.
