FCC Construcción participated in the 21st Conference for Young Professionals of the ATPYC (Technical Association of Ports and Coasts), held in Ceuta. This technical and professional meeting brought together more than sixty experts from the maritime and port sector from all over Spain and several European countries to discuss the sustainable future of ports.

The conference, promoted by the ATPYC Youth Committee, featured a technical programme focused on innovation, sustainability and new challenges for the port and coastal sector. The implementation of the OPS (Onshore Power Supply) system for reducing emissions from berthed ships was analysed, as well as advances in soil improvement techniques applied to port infrastructure; climate risks in ports, beach regeneration studies, the design of shelter structures and experiences applied in projects such as the Jafurah desalination plant and the new container terminal at the Port of Valencia. Presentations focusing on innovative solutions in offshore wind energy, floating structures, energy absorption technologies and the sustainable repair of port infrastructure were also included. A technical visit to the port facilities in Ceuta was also organised.

FCC Construcción presented the project to extend the Playa Blanca quay in Lanzarote. The project consisted of increasing the surface area (75,000 square metres) of the port of Playa Blanca. Of this, 38,000 square metres are sheltered water and 37,000 square metres are on land. It has a new maritime station with a commercial area, as well as new esplanades where new boarding and parking areas will be located.

The Technical Association of Ports and Coasts is the Spanish section of PIANC (Permanent International Association for Navigation Congresses) and has a long history of technical and scientific dissemination in the maritime field.
