FCC Construcción took part in the international event Autodesk University 2024, the biggest technology and innovation event in the engineering, architecture and construction sector. The company was represented by Laura Aldea, BIM manager for the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium renovation project. In her presentation, entitled ‘From the Cloud to the Pitch: BIM Collaboration in Santiago Bernabéu Stadium’, she analysed the impact of building information modelling (BIM) on the design and execution of the project. 

He explained how digital technology and BIM methodology drove the project as well as how the collaborative model was realised within the different teams. He discussed document management, coordination models and on-site quality control checks using Autodesk cloud services. More than 30 companies collaborated following the requirements of ISO 19650, coordinating efforts within the Common Data Environment (CDE). In turn, 11 construction teams ensured that the needs of all stakeholders were met, allowing the project to be optimised in time and cost. 

This technology and digital tools made it possible, among other things, that the project could be developed while the stadium was still active. The use of BIM and the design for fabrication and assembly (DfMA) of the new steel structure improved the efficiency of the project.
