FCC Construcción participates in El Economista's meeting on ‘How AI helps financial directors’
FCC Construcción participated in the meeting organised by El Economista on “How AI helps financial directors”. In a constantly changing market environment, the role of the chief financial officer (CFO) has evolved in recent years. As the owner of data, the CFO has become a key strategic partner in business decision-making, encompassing strategy planning and risk management and, in many cases, leading the digital transformation and adoption of new technologies in their department. In this regard, artificial intelligence has arrived to stay in the finance area, bringing efficiency and productivity to processes, as well as advanced solutions that aid decision-making and guide business activity.
Maria Carrasco, CFO of FCC Construcción, together with representatives from Oracle, Alfonso X el Sabio University, MasOrange and Palladium Hotels. Illunion... discussed how AI is contributing to everything from task automation to prediction and process optimisation, helping to strengthen finance departments and their leaders. Without forgetting the cautious nature of these areas, where data quality and security are paramount, this tool presents an opportunity to put companies on a more secure path to long-term success.
The adoption of new technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence, both traditional and generative, is approached in a comprehensive and strategic manner, driven by business needs. Its implementation takes a three-pronged approach, always in compliance with the FCC Group's Artificial Intelligence (AI) Governance and Ethics model and FCC Construction's digitalisation standard. On the one hand, R&D&I projects are proposed in consortiums with technology companies (start-ups in many cases) and research centres. On the other hand, the search for different teams to increase efficiency in different processes, from tendering to execution, leads to innovative activities through the development of internal innovation. Finally, commercial solutions are also implemented where AI is already an inherent part of them.
AI is used at different levels, from the most basic support for staff in their day-to-day work (office automation, chatbots, assistants, etc.) to developments which, either on their own or in combination with other technologies (drones, BIM, GIS, etc.), require investment and customisation to achieve a specific objective. In these cases, replicability in future projects is always sought in order to continue improving the productivity of our projects.
In short, FCC Construcción relies on the adoption of AI and other advanced technologies to continue its business transformation based on digitalisation in order to increase the efficiency and productivity of its construction projects, always in accordance with its ethical and governance standards.
